Polaris Composite Squadron Meeting Notes
April 29, 2008
- The list of pilots is being circulated so it can be sent to Wing
before the end of the month. This list is the basis of pilots approved
to fly B missions, and some A missions.
- Also a list of pilots needing form 5 checkrides was circulated. The goal
is to secure funding to pay for the rides.
- The FAA Wings Program has been revised, and CAP is participating. A
message from National outlining the program is posted on our website. The
information is posted under Pilot Information / Other flying programs

- Merrill Field spring cleanup will be May 6-8. If you have bulk trash to
be hauled away, MRI maintenance will send a dump truck. Call 343-6313 to
arrange a pickup. Skip will coordinate for Polaris.

- Snow tire change was delayed due to the snow storm. Now planned for May
10.
- Marc Stella was shown a May 2008 Cessna Magazine. Col Russ Anderson
has an article therein that discusses CAP in Alaska in the early 1970s.
Discussions were on survival gear, CAP participating in rescues, and how
unsecured gear was involved in an accident.
- If you have trouble with e-services, contact them immediately so they
can resolve outstanding issues.
- For the monthly safety program, we viewed and FAA produced DVD on
proper communication as a tool to prevent runway incursions. You can
listen to the audio for these minutes for complete briefing.
- Remember the Squadron cleanup is May 18 at 1 PM. Bring brooms,
shovels, etc. Also bring a side dish for the BBQ. Families are welcome.
