Remember on the first flight of the month perform and log a VOR check, even if the plane is only being flown VFR.

Cadet color guard posted the colors at Wing last night and did a superb job.  Marc said all of the Wing staff was suitably impressed.

Marc Stella presented the safety spiel.

6 years ago today 4,000 people who were out to have a normal day perished.  A calamity could happen to any of us so be prepared.

In Nevada during the search for Steve Fosset, 8 aircraft have been found that were not previously known about.

If you are going somewhere, are you going to prepare for the trip.

How well are your preparations.

How adequate are your preparations.

It is easy to leave Anchorage and fly into adverse conditions.

Be sure to have protection for your hands, head, and feet.

Marc suggested that any flight after September 15 have winter gear.

Never leave home without an ELTR.  Some members even carry a spare.

Always have water.

Always have matches, matches, matches, matches.

Lighters are good, but also have matches.

Be prepared, be flexible, the weather can change.

ALWAYS file a flight plan so if something happens, your friends will be sent out to find you.
