3 Wyoming CAP members have been lost in an air accident during a search in Wyoming. More details will follow.

A glider landed short at Birchwood and sheared off the tail wheel.

One of our members found the small hanger door unlocked and open earlier this week. Please be certain the door is latched when you leave the building.

Wing reports the road to Wing HQ is in tough shape due to construction. They advise if you do not need to use the road to delay your business at Wing. Due to the road, Wing will hold their meeting in our squadron building next Monday.

VernAir has some folding tables and filing cabinets free to a good home.

A Mission Reimbursement letter regarding the cutoff day for reimbursable training is now Sept.16. All flights must be input into WMIRS before then.

A pilot safety meeting will be held August 27, 7 PM at UAA Merrill Field.

Wing is still looking for 3 people to travel to Reno for the Reno Air Races. If you want to go see the races and help with the event, contact Gene Moyer at OGEM@att.net; cell (907) 394-2839.

The Alaskan Aviation Safety Foundation is hosting a fall safety seminar on October 13 at UAA Merrill Field. Please note this is a conflict with the Wing Conference.

The Municipality of Anchorage is hosting emergency Disaster Leader Preparedness Training; Wilderness First Aid; and in conjunction with the Anchorage Amateur Radio Club is hosting a Ham Radio Class. A FedEx notice was posted on our door. If you find one of these, please contact Kevin so we can arrange to have it picked up.

SAREX August 25 through September 3. All sorties must be input to WMIRS. Check the sign in sheet to see who is the flight release officer for your sortie.

ELT Search

Mountain flying

Route Search

These scenarios are made up or you can make up your own if meet the mission objectives. Please stop in and sign up for a time slot.

Professional Development - Thank you to Skip and Udo for flying cadets at the recent ACE camp.

Safety - If practicing short field landings, use some spot a ways down the runway as your spot. That way if you do land short, you have less chance of breaking the airplane.
Cadets - we have a few new cadets. A field trip is scheduled this Saturday to EDF.

Safety Spiel was given by Kevin. He talked about his Commanders policy on safety. On any flight, any member of the crew can cancel the flight if they do not like any aspect of the flight. We preach safety, and DEMAND safety. Safety is THE most important thing.
