Polaris Composite Squadron Meeting Notes
August 14, 2007
- We had a callout for an aircrew to track an ELT over the weekend. Had
a good response from Polaris membership. The ELT was turned off before
we got there however. Thank you to everyone who responded. We have heard
that several members did not get the text message notification. Those
members are served by Cellular One. A test of the system on Tuesday
evening showed the system was working normally then.
- Reminder for people who are dispatching air and ground crews. We need
to fill out a form in conformance with Wing Policy Letter #20.
- Kevin gave a reminder to all air crews, if you are delayed enroute or
in-flight, call the RCC and have them call the flight release officer to
extend. If they do not have the phone number for your flight release
officer, have them call Kevin so he can relay the delay information. It
is important to keep your flight release officer appraised of the status
of your flight or we will be starting a SAR to look for you.
- A C-185 on floats is available at Lake Hood for a few weeks. It will
be headed to Kodiak, so use it while it is here. Ed Ross is current as
an instructor.
- Leah at Wing is working alone. If you have questions, please be
advised she is really busy.
- Polaris has two additional flight instructors available. Names of
instructors have been submitted to Wing for the check pilot course.
- Aircraft availability
- C-172 44 hrs/oil 92 hrs/100 hr Annual July 2008
- Beaver ?? hrs/100 hr and oil
- SAREX is still planned for the end of the month. Please consider
participating and keep the time open in your schedule.
- Safety- please put the C-172 in straight since we only have one
aircraft in the hanger. It is simpler than putting it in the corner. The
tail gets close to the spare soda machine.
- Angie gave the Safety Spiel. The recent ACE camp had 8 students. Kids
were signed up as cadets so they got rides on CAP aircraft. Told about
needing phone numbers, but could not get them to check up on an overdue
flight. Angie suggested that everyone have all required phone numbers on
a paper list. If they are in your cell phone, you will have trouble
relaying the number if asked while you are talking on that phone.
