Polaris Composite Squadron Meeting Notes  
June 05, 2007  

• The squadron received a letter from the Wing requesting the squadron commanders to compile Alert Status information. Our Homeland Security office and Operations Officer will work with the commander to assist in gathering this information.
  

• The passing of John Stanley Swiss - his wife has requested that in lieu of flowers, send contributions to CAP in memory of John Swiss. His wife has ask for the names of people who have donated so she can send out thank you notes. We will have a plaque made for the squadron in memory of John.
  

• Please review the membership renewal document. If your membership is about to expire, you will need to go online to e-services to renew your membership. The list will be posted on the reading board.
  

• If anyone is available during the week as a mission pilot, observer, ground crew, let Mel Shephard know.
  
   

• Squadron Leadership School information is on the national web site. Go to www.cap.gov/sls <http://www.cap.gov/sls>. This site provides information to help people get ready for staff duties. Angie is working on contacting Martha at Wing to assist with setting up a local course.
  
• One of our Cadets has been awarded a full scholarship to Amarelle School of Aeronautics in chemical engineering. The award will be presented to the Cadet next Monday.

• The SAREX continues for June 1-10. There will be a single point flight release each day. Scott Kolstad will be flight release during the weak. Kevin will release on Friday and Saturday and Sunday TBD. Review pilot and crew status. Participants must have a member card, a 101 card, and flight suit to participate. Practice crew coordination. A couple of the scenarios involve mountain flying, so watch the normal hazards for flying in the mountains.

   

• Safety Spiel by Paul - driving tips. Paul is a commercial driver. Be aware at intersections that large truck will swing over in the next lane to make a turn at an intersection. Be aware if you are standing at a corner because a turning truck may go over a curb. Paul explained where the blind spots are in a large truck. The recommendation is to past as quickly as possible when passing a truck. Motorcycles are the hardest for commercial drivers to see. Report bad loads, defective truck equipment, etc. call the police.
