• A new help desk is available for MIMS. They will help with some of the MIMS questions and fix some of the MIMS functions that are not posting correctly.
  
  
• The Valdez squadron has invited all CAP members to come to Valdez for the fly in May 11-13. There is room at the CAP hanger to camp out inside, and outside tie-downs and possibly inside tie-downs are available. Call Mike Williams the VDZ Squadron Commander if you have any questions.
  
  
• Wing has a new Emergency Services leader to replace long time ES Jim McCarthy. The new ES guy is Ed Bos. His cell phone is 203-558-6614.
  
  
• The most recent Safety Sentinel listed incidents from February. Incidents included:

• C-182 – the trim tab sleeve popped out of the boot due to cold weather;
• C-172 – ladder fell into the aileron;
• C-172 – left wing tip damaged by unknown person.
  

• There were several vehicle accidents, and a slip and fall.
  
  
• Remember if there is an incident or accident, per Wing Policy Letter 29, the PIC will notify his Commander, and that Commander will notify the Wing Commander.
  
  
• The Beaver has 50.2 hrs/100 hr and next oil. The oil filter was just changed, so the first pilot to operate the aircraft should look for oil leaks around the filter.
  
  
• The cartridge on the copy machine will be replaced tomorrow.
  
  
• The Avemco Insurance Company has had discussions with a squadron member about the use of personal aircraft on CAP missions. The question was raised due to the hold harmless clause all private aircraft owners must sign and file with Wing. Avemco says their hull coverage stays in effect for SAR type missions, but not for CD and border patrol missions. Coverage also follows the policy holder over to CAP aircraft.
  
  
• The Alaskan Aviation Safety Foundation, along with the Seaplane Pilots Association, the 99s, and the Alaska Airmen are hosting the annual Seaplane Safety Seminar at the OAS hanger at Lake Hood this Saturday,April 14. Sign in is at 8:30 AM.
  
  
• Our cadets will be participating in a color guard competition at the National Guard Armory on Ft Richardson on April 21. Please come out and watch our cadets.
