Polaris Composite Squadron Meeting Notes
April 3, 2007
- Scott Olson chaired the meeting due to Kevin being ill.
- One aircraft is in the hanger. It has 50.2 hrs/100 hr and oil
- Map to go to Wing Maintenance is in the drawer.
- Wing is ordering soon from Vanguard. If you wish to order something, you
can piggyback on the Wing order. Call Wing soon.
- The plow truck has a bad starter. If you try to operate, you may have
problems starting. This is an ongoing problem, and hopefully we are done
with winter and the starter can be repaired this summer. National is being
asked to help.
- Safety – The Medallion Foundation is holding an introductory training
session on June 12. Call Medallion if you want to participate in the class.
- Medical – presented a briefing on food poisoning.
- Food poisoning is either bacterial, viral, or chemical.
- If the cause is chemical, you will be ill within 30 minutes.
- If the cause is bacterial, you will be ill within 1 to 12 hours.
- If the cause is viral or salmonella, the onset of illness could take
up to 2 days.
- Symptoms are nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
- The major danger is dehydration. The blood electrolytes can get out of
balance. Re-hydration is very important.
- The risk of food poisoning increases when eating improperly prepared
food.
- The illness usually passes in 3 days
- The cadets will be participating in a color guard competition on April 21
at the Ft Rich National Guard Armory.
- Safety Spiel – Frank Neil talked about a hard landing he experienced on
a recent commercial flight.
