Polaris Composite Squadron Meeting Notes  
February 6, 2007  

• C-206 92U is in our hanger for a short time. It is approved to fly off the hours until February 28. Then it must go in for mandatory propeller AD.

   

• A new course, Cockpit Resource Management (CRM) is available on the National Web Site. Click on link above. The CRM training is under Training Materials on the right side of the webpage.

   

• Wing needs a list of all multi-engine qualified pilots. They are trying to justify a twin engined aircraft for Wing. Please notify Mel Sheppard if you are qualified.

   

• The B-12 and B-17 mission number for February is posted on the bulletin board.

• Jake Bainbridge received a certificate of appreciation for his help at the cadet encampment last summer.

   

• Wing wants all FRO to take the FRO training annually. We will have a refresher class here at the squadron on March 6.

• The storage area upstairs behind the white board in the meeting room has been cleaned out.

   

• The guided exercise will not be held in Kenai. It has been rescheduled for Wing. Polaris staff will be leaned on to provide a significant amount of the staff again (Angie, Doug, Mel, Carl). Other staff positions are available.

   

• The question was asked whether a logbook endorsement is required if using the FAA Wings program to satisfy the BFR requirement. A consensus of the flight instructors said yes.

   

• A safety risk analysis form is available on our web page. This is a Beta version. Pilots are requested to try it, and provide feedback. Risk Analyst Forms

   

• FAA Safety Team distributed a message about Taxi and Hold Short instructions from ATC. FAA is changing the conditions under which these instructions will be issued.

   

• A finance committee meeting will be held for the squadron this Sunday (2/11/07) at 1 PM.

   

• The Cadets took a field trip the ARTCC last night. 18 cadets participated.
  
  
• Bob Nichols, one of our Sr Members underwent emergency surgery recently.He is at Providence Hospital.
  
  

• The 99ers are going to have a Celebration of Life for Ruth Jefford on February 14, 6:00pm at the Aviation Heritage Museum. It is a potluck. For more details, see Angie Slingluff.
  
  

• February 17-18 Bob Wander is instructing a CFIG recertification clinic.See Karen Hursh if interested.

• Safety Spiel by Steve. Water is necessary to think clearly. Drink water to stay hydrated, even in the winter. Try to drink water at room temperature so your body does not have to warm up the water before using. As a rule of thumb, drink one ounce of water for each pound of body weight per day. Pilots and flight crew should be hydrated before flights.
