Project Overview
In December of 2011, squadron leadership decided to undertake a massive project to revitalize and modernize our squadron building. The building is estimated to have been built in the 60′s, and was thought to have been last remodeled in the 80′s. Throughout the building there are signs of age, wear, old technology infrastructure and inefficient uses of space. At the completion of the project, the squadron will have a more comfortable and efficient meeting and operations space. The facility will also be better equipped to function as an alternate mission base.

Project Planning
The project will touch every part of the facility and will be accomplished in 3 phases.
- Phase 1 – Upstairs
- New paint and carpet throughout
- Conversion of inoperative bathrooms into storage areas
- Installation of new audio/visual displays
- New lighting
- New seating
- Beginning of infrastructure build out
- Phase 2 – Hanger
- Removal of damaged lockers
- Disposal of obsolete equipment/supplies
- Consolidate storage, operations areas
- Phase 3 – Downstairs
- Move operations area to hangar
- Dispose of obsolete equipment/supplies
- Remove office wall, desks, old planning tables
- New paint and flooring
- New lighting
- Installation of communications infrastructure
- Installation of new audio/visual displays and computer systems
Completed Work
- 2012 February 20 – Finish wall painting, finish out low voltage.
- 2012 February 19 – Drywall textured.
- 2012 February 12 – Removed ceiling light fixtures, painted ceiling, removed white boards.
- 2012 January 31 – Picked up donated carpet tiles.
- 2012 January 28 – Drywall mudding/taping mostly complete.
- 2012 January 27 – Drywall mudding/taping begins, painting continues.
- 2012 January 24 – Drywall installation complete.
- 2012 January 23 – Installation of drywall begins.
- 2012 January 19 – Completed installation of low voltage wiring, completed podium platform, ready for drywall.
- 2012 January 10 – Installed new electrical for televisions and podium, built podium platform. Audio/visual wiring and accessories delivered.
- 2012 January 9 – Finished demolition of meeting room wall panels and carpet. Disposed of all demolition debris.
- 2011 December 17 – South wall wood paneling to dry for paint, removed old paneling. Will allow installation of new electrical and audio/visual cabling. Started removing carpeting.
- 2011 December 12 – Beginning of project, painting, removal of bathroom fixtures.
